One-Variable Statistics (Chapter 2)
Lesson 3: Sampling Techniques (2.3)
Video 1: Populations and Samples of Data
Video 2: Simple Random Sample
Every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected and the selection of any particular individual does not affect the chances of any other individual being chosen
Video 3: Systematic Sample
The sample is selected by listing a population sequentially and choosing members at regular interval
The sample size and the population size determine the sampling interval
Video 4: Stratified Sample
The population includes groups of members who share common characteristics (strata)
The sample has the same proportion of members from each stratum as the population does
Video 5: Cluster Sample
To save time and money, a sample is randomly selected from a randomly selected group
(Sometimes, all elements in the randomly selected group are included in the sample)
This is different from stratified sampling method which randomly selects a sample from each stratum
Video 6: Convenience Sample
A sample is selected simply because it is easily accessible
The sample may not be random, so their results may not always be reliable
Video 7: Multi-Stage Sample
The sample is selected using several levels of random sampling
